Subject: Vice President and Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid
I am pleased to announce and welcome to the St. Lawrence community our new Vice President and Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid Florence W. Hines. Florence has served McDaniel College in Maryland with great distinction, where she has been Vice President of Enrollment and Dean of Admissions for twelve years. She will begin her duties at St. Lawrence in early summer 2018.
Florence will bring to St. Lawrence many seasons of demonstrated success in admissions marketing, financial aid, and enrollment transformation. She is experienced in positioning student recruitment to align with core institutional strategies and academic strengths. Those who know Florence professionally and as a colleague shared that she brings senior level expertise, a competitive spirit, collaborative leadership, commitment to student diversity access, and abundant energy.
Prior to serving McDaniel College, Florence spent five years in successively responsible positions at Spring Hill College, four years at Cornell College, and 13 years at her alma mater, Millsaps College, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree magna cum laude in psychology, and also her Master of Business Administration degree.
Our search committee of trustees, faculty members, staff representatives, students, and alumni, chaired so capably by Professor Valerie Lehr worked on this very important task with insight, sensitivity, and patience. The committee worked closely and well with Mary Napier and her staff at Napier Executive Search; their expertise assisted our efforts at all steps of our process. I wish to thank them all for a job done with the highest measures of resolve and excellence.
I also extend deepest gratitude to Jeremy Freeman, who serves as executive director of admissions, as well as Patricia Farmer, executive director of financial aid, and Musa Khalidi, executive director of international admissions. Florence will undoubtedly have the best leadership team possible as she joins the Laurentian community in the new year.
