Executive Director of Student Financial Assistance and Employment
The University of Miami, a top-tier private research university with approximately 10,000 undergraduate students and 6,000 graduate and professional students from around the world, is seeking an experienced financial aid professional with exceptional skills in team building, collaboration and communication who understands the dynamics of a complex, global and diverse university to serve as Executive Director of Student Financial Assistance and Employment. This position reports to the Vice President for Enrollment Management, oversees a staff of 30 professionals and is responsible for developing, forecasting, managing, and administering the delivery of student financial aid and the financial aid budget.
Qualifications: Candidates will be expected to have an advanced understanding and record of compliance with federal and state regulations regarding the awarding and disbursement of government funds, and effective leadership and managerial skill to oversee staff that will perform a variety of functions in this process. The ideal candidate will be a collaborative partner within the division of enrollment management, as well as someone who has fostered strong relationships in other parts of the institution to include advancement, student accounts, athletics, and the different schools and colleges. A professional who emphasizes customer service and possesses a strong student-orientation, this executive director should have at least eight years of progressively responsible experience in student financial services, financial aid, and/or bursar services (preferably at the undergraduate and graduate levels); and substantial experience leading and managing a financial aid office. Candidates who have experience working with institutional methodology and who have a familiarity with the PeopleSoft student information system are preferred. Experience working with undergraduates and graduate students is strongly desired. A bachelor’s degree is required; an advanced degree is preferred.
